The Bugis ethnic group is a community originating from South Sulawesi who are known as a seafaring ethnic group and live in coastal areas with extensive exploration, making their descendants spread to various islands in Indonesia, one of which is Sumbawa Island. Living side by side with local residents without any conflict supports the integration of the two cultures from each ethnic group, especially through marriage. This study is intended to explore forms of intercultural communication in the process of adaptation and integration between the two ethnic groups using a phenomenological approach and qualitative descriptive methods. The results of the study show that both ethnic groups maintain their ethnic identities but remain open to learning and teaching various cultural practices that each has and even combine attributes from both ethnic groups, not just in the marriage process, but also in communicating with each other.
