Abstract

Coastal communities are affected by climate change because their activities are highly dependent on nature. The Gili Village community is one of the coastal communities affected by climate change and its livelihood activities are 90% dependent on natural factors. However, climate change conditions are not realized and even have meaning as ordinary natural symptoms. Climate change that is increasingly difficult to predict from year to year has an impact on the fisheries and tourism sectors which are the flagship of Gili Gede Village. This is suspected to affect the productivity and economic vulnerability of households which also affects the food security of coastal communities. This study aims to identify the perception of the people of Gili Gede Indah Village towards climate change. This research uses qualitative methods with a case study approach with informants, purposive informant collection techniques. The informants in this study are Gili Gede coastal communities consisting of fishermen, traders, housewives, laborers and workers in the tourism industry. Data collection techniques by means of in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results showed that Gili Gede's coastal communities felt the impact of climate change. The meaning of climate change is different, the essence of the actual meaning, especially in female informants. Climate change in Gili Gede causes changes in weather, wind direction and storms as well as weather
