Abstract

Utilization of compost obtained from the surrounding environment is a very beneficial practice for the environment and the agricultural sector. Compost, as a product of the decomposition of organic materials such as food waste, leaves, and other organic waste, becomes a nutrient-rich material for the soil. In the area around RT 26, Karang Joang Village, there are many community plantations that are being developed, but the lack of knowledge and understanding of simple plantation management technology is the cause of less than optimal plantation results and quality. Therefore, this community service activity aims to utilize the potential around community plantations by producing compost from abundant bamboo leaves in the area. This aims to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers that have a negative impact on the environment. The activities carried out were in the form of training the community, especially the Women Farmers Group in RT 26, in understanding the benefits and process of making compost, mastering processing techniques, practicing making, and utilizing compost as organic fertilizer. Based on the survey and implementation of the training, it was found that participants succeeded in increasing their understanding and practical skills. This has the potential to reduce bamboo leaf waste and air pollution in the local environment and increase agricultural productivity.
