Abstract

Indonesia and Malaysia are members of a regional organization in Southeast Asia, namely ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) where the purpose of the establishment of the organization is to improve cooperative relations between fellow member countries in the fields of politics, economy, social, and security. Judging from the many global challenges, such as climate change, awareness of the importance of environmental conservation is a very crucial issue. In the context of ASEAN, this environmental awareness is not only related to local efforts in each member country, but also requires close regional cooperation. The purpose of this service is to build climate change awareness among the young generation of ASEAN through the tree planting action of Mataram University students in Batu Lapan, Malaysia. From the existence of cross-border community service, it is hoped that it can provide awareness for students about the importance of cooperation between regional countries in environmental, educational, and cultural aspects. This service uses an educational and participatory approach, such as socialization activities, tree planting actions, and international collaboration between the University of Mataram and Universiti Utara Malaysia. The purpose of these activities is not only to preserve the environment and sustainable development, but can be a symbolic form of cooperation between schools, universities, and communities that are transnational.
