Pelatihan Jurnalisme Warga Guna Membangun Masyarakat Tanggap Bencana

Abstract

Journalism plays an important role in disaster mitigation. In the current internet era, it is possible for people to be able to produce and distribute news about disasters. This concept is known as citizen journalism. BARASIAGA is a humanitarian organization concerned with the issue of disaster risk reduction. Several activities related to disaster mitigation have been carried out, but activities related to the use of social media as a medium of information aimed at disaster mitigation have not been carried out optimally. This community service program is carried out with the aim of increasing the knowledge and skills of BARASIAGA members regarding citizen journalism and journalistic photography. The results of the activity were as many as 30 members of BARASIAGA participated in citizen journalism training to build a disaster response community. Referring to the results of this training, the team concluded that the recommendations for the next program were news writing training and optimizing social media as a means of information for disaster mitigation.
