Abstract

This research is a Research and Development (R&D) research to determine the development of assessment instruments using the kahoot application to improve students' critical thinking skills. This research uses a 4D development model consisting of 4 stages, namely (1) define, (2) design, (3) develop (4) disseminate. The assessment instruments developed are multiple-choice questions. The data collection techniques used in this study were in the form of questionnaire interviews, tests and documentation. Using qualitative data analysis techniques obtained from the input of validators, assessment instrument experts, media experts and linguists and quantitative data analysis techniques obtained from validation sheets, student response questionnaires, pretest questionnaires and student postest. The level of effectiveness of the assessment instrument in improving critical thinking ability obtained a score of 56.09% with a fairly effective interpretation and the pratical level (student response) obtained an average score of 88.45% with a very interesting category. It can be concluded that the development of assessment instruments using the kahoot application to improve students' critical thinking skills in this study is quite effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.
