Abstract

Balikpapan is one of the supporting cities for the IKN (National Capital) Nusantara, whose geographical and demographic position is very important in supporting readiness to face the movement of the capital city. However, there are still some areas on the outskirts of Balikpapan that face environmental problems due to the bad habits of people who are not aware of maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability. Therefore, the community service team from Mulawarman University prioritizes the Waste Bank educational work program as a solution to reduce household waste and increase public awareness, especially among women so that they become the leading movers and role models in the family and the wider community. Seeing the condition of the environment and the people in Margo Mulyo Village, Balikpapan, it can be seen that people are careless about environmental cleanliness, so they throw garbage carelessly, which results in flooding and other diseases. Education for women is carried out in the form of campaign activities, socialization, and tutorials on processing waste into a waste bank that has economic value. The method used is the campaign, socialization, and tutorials in front of RT residents of Margo Mulyo Village, Balikpapan, the majority of whom are women. The activity partner is Ecco Walibar, a Garbage Bank community in Balikpapan City. The results of this service show the enthusiasm of the participants and changes in the behavior of the residents by increasing their insight and knowledge about the utilization and management of waste banks so that they have economic value for families and communities as well as a form of environmental conservation.
